Kaleidescape arrived at this year's CEDIA event with a couple of fresh news items to accompany its mainstream-adjacent $3,995 Cinema One player. Its online Kaleidescape Store is getting a boost by adding the ability for customers to add digital copies for their existing Blu-ray discs. At launch it only supported DVDs, but now customers can get high quality, discless access to movies they already own HD editions of, just by putting a disc in the player. The price for Ultraviolet access across devices and an excuse to stop getting up from the couch to put the disc in (although, if you'd like to buy an expensive disc changer instead we're sure Kaleidescape won't argue) is $1.99, so choose wisely. Finally, the company is expanding access to the store, which has opened its virtual doors in Canada for the first time, in addition to the US and the UK, where it launched back in May.

Kaleidescape Showcases Cinema One at CEDIA Expo 2013
Dealers can offer the ultimate movie-watching experience to more customers; plus new digital upgrade options enhance the Kaleidescape Store
SUNNYVALE, CA – September 25, 2013 - Kaleidescape, Inc., the market leader in movie servers, today announced that it will showcase its newest product, Cinema One, at CEDIA Expo 2013 in Denver, Colorado, September 26-28. Dealers and integrators in the residential electronic systems industry will have the opportunity to take part in live demonstrations of Cinema One and experience enhancements to the Kaleidescape Store, in booth #3718.
New Kaleidescape Store Features
The Kaleidescape Store is the first online store that enables consumers to download movies with video and audio quality equal to Blu-ray Disc and DVD. With this latest release, the Kaleidescape Store continues to innovate by offering more digital firsts: For only $1.99, movie-lovers can now go disc-free with digital copies of the Blu-ray discs they already own; or upgrade their DVDs to Blu-ray quality downloads for $6.99-conveniently online and at a fraction of the cost of buying new. These digital copies include UltraViolet rights for viewing on TVs, PCs, or mobile devices.
"With these enhancements to the Kaleidescape Store, customers are now able to seamlessly upgrade their Blu-ray and DVD collections to digital copies. This means consumers no longer need to buy higher-quality versions of the titles they already own on DVD; and, they can eliminate their dependency on storing physical Blu-ray discs in disc vaults," said Michael Malcolm, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Kaleidescape.
Movies in the Kaleidescape Store can be downloaded to Cinema One and the Premiere line to serve multiple rooms or homes. Digital copies can be downloaded to up to five systems.
Cinema One
At CEDIA Expo, Kaleidescape will give attendees a hands-on experience of the new Cinema One, introduced in July. Kaleidescape is already renowned in the world of high-end custom home theaters. With Cinema One, dealers can now deliver Kaleidescape quality and convenience to an entirely new market segment.
The Cinema One movie server plays Blu-ray and DVD movies instantly-without previews, menus, or ads. It stores up to 600 DVD quality or 100 Blu-ray quality movies and can start a Blu-ray disc in seconds-faster than any Blu-ray player in the market. Unlike streaming services, Cinema One lets users enjoy movies in the highest audio and video quality available. With an easy-to-install, out-of-the-box experience and a price of $3,995, Cinema One is the perfect solution for any living room or home theater.
"By combining quality and convenience, Kaleidescape is redefining how families enjoy their movies," Malcolm said. "With Kaleidescape, you can experience your favorite movie or concert at the highest quality available, starting at beginning of the main feature or jumping to your favorite scene or song in an instant. So family time is truly quality time."
Cinema One fits in any home AV setup, whether under a TV in the family room or in a traditional custom AV rack, and can easily replace older Blu-ray players.
A second Cinema One can be added to double the storage capacity and enable viewing of the combined library on a second television. A three-year standard limited warranty ensures customers can enjoy their movies worry-free.
